Texas Child Support
I was a single mom. I'm not ashamed of it. Other than that I want to share my story of getting child support. I want you to understand that I believe that child support is directly for the child not for getting nails done, going out to parties or lunch, and basically not for the personal reasons of the parent. I tried to get child support through the Gary IN court system. I gave them 3 addresses, a copy of his birth certificate, and his ssn with a list of phone numbers. The day I showed up to court he wasn't there. I listened to the judge literally go off on a woman about not finding him with all the information provided. I tried going to court for child support for my sons father. I was told to file with this town for out of state cases then I was told another town. So I did and never heard nothing of it. I was saving money for my daughter in her piggy bank and the last time her father had seen her he stole all of it; Over $200. Going to that Gary court house to tell them that I was moving to Texas cause we all know that your not allowed to leave the state without letting the court system know. They there had me run around from floor to floor. The 4th time I went to a different floor all I was told was that I had to write a letter. Could have told me that over the phone. I moved to the great state of Texas with the pride of I don't need help taking care of my kids cause I did it all those years with no help from their fathers. In the state of Texas if you apply your children for medicaid or for any benefits from the state it is mandatory that you go for child support. I of course applied to get my kids insurance and I only once had to go to an office to talk about it and for them to tell me that Indiana is slow at doing their paper work. It took 3 yrs. later, but they finally found the fathers and to take them to court I started receiving checks and a letter written by the wife of my daughters father asking if I would want the father of my daughter to give up his rights because they were trying to buy a house and the child support was hard for them to pay; I was only receiving $50 a month. I told them that if they couldn't afford $50 a month that they shouldn't buy a house. After that letter the checks stopped. Yesterday I called about a letter I received saying I have funds on my child support card that I have lost and didn't use. I called and found out I have over $2,000 on that card. My dad received a letter in the mail a week before saying to call the Indianapolis Child Support Division. I did and it was the wrong number, but soon after I received a phone call from them getting my info to send checks. I received a phone call waking me this morning telling me that they are sending me over a thousand dollars. So I thank the state of TX for putting things right and doing a hell of allot more than the state of IN ever did.
